We have 11 days in Puglia..today we're here in Gallipoli, now on the Ionian Coast, Salentina Peninsula still in the Province of Lecce. We're staying in the old City. An important monument of the historic center of Gallipoli is the Clock Tower, rebuilt around the early 1700s and later to accommodate the clock built by the Neapolitan maestro Francesco Barletta. The structure is composed of a small bell tower where they originally placed two bronze bells, all topped with two coats of arms, the Bourbon and that of the city of Gallipoli. Unfortunately, the old machinery originally built by master watchmaker was replaced in the early 1900s and therefore it is no longer visible within the structure.
