Note: The Municipal Theatre of Gallipoli was built at his own expense, as the scene of the plant, in 1825 by the noble Bonaventure Balsamo, which he entitled "Teatro del Giglio" in honor of the Bourbon family. Following the economic collapse of the Balsamo family, the theater was acquired in 1874 by the city that gave the restoration project of the engineer Oronzo Bernardini Lecce. The interior was completely renovated: particular attention was given to the furnishings and decorations; prospects of the boxes were enriched with gilded stucco boxes and completely tapezzati damask. The carvings were entrusted to the Gallipoli Salvatore Buccarella, Luigi and Francesco Epifani Nocera and gilding were entrusted to the Neapolitan Tuvolo and pictorial decorations to very good Melchiorre Zalardi. In 1879 the theater was named after Giuseppe Garibaldi. Recently the building has been completely restored.
